A 44-year-old Calgary man who disappeared while climbing on Saturday has been found dead on Castle Mountain.

Ho-Seok (Michael) Hwang left Calgary Saturday morning for the Castle Mountain area and did not come home that evening as expected.

Parks Canada began a ground and aerial search on Sunday after being alerted by Hwang's family.

Searchers located his white Ford Taurus station wagon at the Castle Mountain trail head parking lot but nothing appeared unusual.

An aerial search resumed Monday and a body was located Tuesday afternoon at about 2,400 metres.

Rescuers were dropped from the helicopter and were able to confirm the man's identity.

Searchers say it appears Hwang was rappelling down the mountain and may have run out of rope.

RCMP say Hwang had all the safety equipment, but they don't recommend people go rock climbing on their own.

Officials say they were able to bring the body down Wednesday morning.
