A Red Deer man has been arrested and charged in connection with an international credit card trafficking scam.

The FBI launched an undercover operation two years ago, and it estimates there may be as many as 400,000 victims in 13 countries.

Red Deer City RCMP assisted the Manhattan U.S. Attorney and FBI from southern New York by arresting the suspect July 2 in what they are calling an "international cyber crime takedown."

The offences include trafficking in credit card information, bank accounts and other personal data.

The 23-year-old man is scheduled to appear in an Edmonton court Friday morning.

He was one of two Canadians charged, another was arrested on a warrant issued in the U.S. All together 24 arrests were made.
