City police are on the hunt for a person they believe may be behind several robberies across western Canada.

Police describe the suspect as Caucasian, 50 to 60-years-old, between 5’8" and 6’ tall, with a medium build.

Police say he has been both clean and unshaven during the incidents and has short grey hair.

The more than a half-dozen robberies took place in Calgary, Edmonton, Spruce Grove and Winnipeg.

Some of them involved threats and the mention of a gun.

In Calgary, on April 2, a man entered a bank in the 200 block of Shawville Boulevard S.W., and used a note to rob the bank of a significant amount of money.

It’s believed the same man also robbed a bank in the 800 block of Country Hills Boulevard N.W., and again used a note to rob the bank of a large amount of money.

Police believe the same man is also responsible for the following robberies:

  • On April 14, 2011, a male suspect entered a bank located on 24 Street S.E., in Edmonton, handed over a note and left with an undisclosed amount of money.
  • On Jan. 15, 2012, a male suspect walked into an Edmonton drug store at 94 Street and Ellerslie Road and took money from the cash register. Shortly after, he entered another drug store and removed cash from that till. In both incidents the suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of money.
  • Two days later, on Jan. 17, 2012, the same suspect entered a bank at 98 Avenue and 50 Street in Edmonton, and demanded cash. A teller complied and the suspect got away with a significant amount of cash.
  • On Feb. 8, 2012, the same suspect entered a bank at 175 Street and 100 Avenue in Edmonton and, once again, passed a note before getting away with money.
  • This same suspect targeted a bank in Spruce Grove, AB on Feb. 23, 2012 and in Winnipeg, MB, on March 20, 2012.
