Fire destroys wood shop in S.E. Calgary

Flames ripped through a building in southeast Calgary early Tuesday morning.

Flames ripped through a building in southeast Calgary early Tuesday morning.

Crews were called to the building, which housed a woodworking shop, at 36th Avenue and 15A Street S.E. at about 3 a.m.

Eric Sundstrom, who has owned Solid Woodwork Ltd. for 25 years, said an alarm company called him at home about the fire.

Fire battalion chief Ernie Molineaux said crews were putting out hot spots by about 7:30 a.m.

Three people were inside the building when the fire started but there were no injuries.

It’s not known what caused the fire.
