All 3 truck passengers injured, 1 critically

A 2002 grey GMC Sierra pickup truck crashed into a CP rail train in Olds late Tuesday night, seriously injuring one of the passengers.

At 11:42 p.m., Olds RCMP responded to the accident at the intersection of 50th Avenue and 50th Street.

RCMP said the truck was travelling westbound on 50th Street when it collided with the southbound locomotive. The crossing arms, flashing lights and bells were all activated and functioning.

There were three people in the pickup.

The 20-year-old woman driver from Edmonton and a 20-year-old man from Ontario seated in the backseat were both transported to the Olds hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The other passenger, an 18-year-old man from Manitoba sitting in the front passenger seat, was flown by STARS air ambulance to Calgary where he remains in critical condition.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor, but the crash investigation is still underway.
