An Enmax lineman was killed Tuesday while performing routine maintenance on a power pole in the southwest neighbourhood of Glenbrook.

An Enmax lineman was killed Tuesday while performing routine maintenance on a power pole in the southwest neighbourhood of Glenbrook.

The man, 25, received the fatal shock about 1 p.m.  He was rushed to Foothills Hospital, where he died.

"It has been confirmed that he did sustain a very severe electric shock," EMS spokesman Stuart Brideaux said. "The circumstances leading up to that and how that actually occurred would have to be confirmed through Enmax."

In a written statement, Enmax expressed its sympathies for the family and said the company is trying to determine the cause of the accident.

The investigation has been turned over to provincial Occupational Health and Safety officers by police.
